Spiced Apple & Cranberry Porridge

What You Need
  • 3 apples (cored and peeled
  • and cut into small pieces)
  • 2 handfuls cranberries
  • 5 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tbsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp. allspice
  • Zest 1 orange
  • Unsalted butter
  • 200 g porridge oats
  • 1 lt whole milk
What You Do
The Cook
  1. Heat up a saucepan to a medium heat and melt a knob of
  2. butter.
  3. Add the apples and cranberries, water, 3
  4. tbsp. of the sugar, the orange zest, the cinnamon and the
  5. allspice.
  6. Stir until the water has evaporated and the fruit is
  7. moist. Remove from the heat and cover to keep warm.
  8. Place the oats, milk and remaining sugar in another saucepan.
  9. Simmer and stir continuously until the oats have absorbed most
  10. of the milk or until it reaches the desired consistency.
  1. Transfer the porridge to bowls and spoon on generous amounts of
  2. fruit onto each bowl of porridge.
  3. When melted, add the apples and cranberries, water, 3
  4. tbsp. of the sugar, the orange zest, the cinnamon and the
  5. allspice.
